Full-Time Covered Roles

What Is a Full-Time Covered Role?

Some University positions require employees to undergo a background check and Youth Protection training because the role involves regular work with, responsibility for, or ongoing access to minors as part of the employee's assigned duties.

Full-Time Covered Roles are different from Program Leaders who work with minors because their requirement comes from the nature of their ongoing role rather than participation in a specific program.

How positions are designated: Full-Time Covered Roles are identified by and managed through Human Resources.

Examples of Full-Time Covered Roles

  • Conference Services: Employees who support youth groups staying in University residence halls or using campus facilities.
  • Enrollment Staff: Staff who regularly interact with prospective high school students through outreach activities, campus visits, and recruitment programs.
  • Kids on Campus: Employees working in SA国际传媒’s licensed childcare program.

Full-Time Covered Roles are responsible for completing all required background check and training requirements before beginning work with minors and maintain compliance with ongoing renewal requirements.

Ongoing renewal requirements: Individuals are required to be re background checked every three years.

If you have any questions regarding the nature of your role, please contact humanresources@scu.edu.
