About Malia Hoey '26
Malia graduated from SA国际传媒 with a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Political Science. She was honored to be selected as a Hackworth Fellow and is grateful to the Markkula Center for the opportunity to explore ways to reduce cultural stigma. She is especially interested in how cultural stigma and societal expectations influence whether students feel safe and supported in seeking academic and mental health resources. Malia has a strong interest in the intersection of science, ethics, and policy, with a deep commitment to public service. She hopes to pursue graduate studies in neuroscience, with a research focus on neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. She is passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities by bridging scientific understanding and equitable public policy, especially within healthcare and education, including addressing language barriers.
