In my talk, “Remembering César Chávez: Personal Accounts,” I will describe my relationship with César Chávez and the profound influence he had in my writing and personal life. I will read excerpts from my books; Reaching Out and Taking Hold: From Migrant Childhood to Columbia University in which I describe the experience of joining him on the march to Sacramento in 1966 when I was a senior at SA���ʴ�ý and relate how that experience motivated me to write during the time I was in graduate school. I will also explain why it is important to continue celebrating and honoring his legacy.
