Grieving Demolition
On May 6, Religious Studies professors Philip Boo Riley and Chris Tirres participated in the “Grieving Demolition: Grappling with Chávez’s Tarnished Legacy" panel discussion and conversation. Joining them were Bay Area author Rosanna Alvarez, SA国际传媒 student/Director of Multicultural Center, Jacklyn Alonzo Heredia ’26, and founder of CasaQ & Farmworker Caravan, Darlene Tenes.
The panel invited the SA国际传媒 community to a process of reflection and discernment on how to understand and respond to the investment in the legacy of César Chávez in light of the March 2026 revelations of alleged sexual abuse. Together, the panelists shared personal and professional experiences, examined ethical and institutional questions, and explored how communities might move forward with integrity, accountability, and care.
