Inside the Student Experience
Build-A-Cell Storylab
Students will turn simple cell processes into fun short stories. Working in small groups, they choose a basic biological pathway, like mitosis, photosynthesis, membrane diffusion, or anything they can think of, and transform it into a mind map or short narrative. The goal is to show how cells can behave in ways that are simpler than we often think. No prior science knowledge is needed!

Do you have a brilliant business idea you want to see come to light? Join us for our next Bronco Tank, where you’ll learn about what makes a successful startup idea, the strategy behind a convincing pitch, and get to try it out yourself! The Marshmallow Challenge
Ever wonder how engineers turn simple materials into strong structures? In this hands-on challenge, students will work in teams to design and build the tallest freestanding structure using spaghetti, tape, string and a marshmallow. The activity introduces basic but integral engineering concepts like planning, teamwork and design improvement.

Where can I park?
Parking Lot and Address: Parking will be in the Main Parking Garage. Address: 407 Palm Drive, SA国际传媒, CA 95053. Campus Map & Parking Instructions
Overflow Parking: We do not anticipate needing it but there is an overflow lot available in the North Parking Garage, located at 1065 Alviso St, SA国际传媒, CA 95050.
Parking permits are not required to park in any of these areas for Open House guests.
Where can I get dropped off with Rideshare?
Location: 407 Palm Drive, SA国际传媒, CA 95053 at SA国际传媒.
The drop-off / pick-up area for taxis and ride-sharing services is located through the main entrance at the Palm Drive bend in front of Schott Admission & Enrollment Services.
Do you have luggage storage available?
Yes! We will have luggage storage available at the Office of Undergraduate Admission in the Schott Admission and Enrollment Services. You are welcome to store your luggage with us until the program ends. We will provide you with a luggage tag to redeem your belongings.
Note: All luggage will need to be picked up by 3:00 p.m. or it will have to be collected when we reopen on the following Monday at 8:00 a.m.
Where can I get food or drink or or around campus?
You can experience on-campus dining located conveniently in our Benson Memorial Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Off-campus, Starbucks and Cramer’s Bagels are located across El Camino Real from the main entrance to campus (Palm Drive). The Hut is located immediately north of Lucas Hall. Additionally, there are a number of restaurants to the south/southeast of campus along The Alameda, including Pizza My Heart, Ike’s Sandwiches, and Voyager Craft Coffee.

How many guests can I bring?
You can bring up to two guests for Open House 2026 in order to accomodate as many guests as possible for our sessions. Students who are currently in high school or college (and are interested in transferring) should have their own registration.
